How instructors work

Teachers who work only on the courses you give them, with the permissions you choose.

An instructor is a teacher who works on some of your courses, online tests and batches, but not on the rest of your academy. You choose what each instructor works on and what they may do with it. Instructors are free: you are not charged for them, and there is no limit on how many you invite.

Admin or instructor?

Admin Instructor
Courses, online tests and batches All of them Only the ones you assign them, or that they create
What they may do with them Everything What you switch on for each one
Students page, Settings, billing, payments, enquiries, analytics Yes No
Activity log Yes No

If somebody needs to do everything, invite them as an admin instead.

The six switches

When you assign a course, online test or batch to an instructor, you choose what they may do with it.

Switch What it lets them do
Edit content Change the details, curriculum, topics, videos, documents and quizzes. Adding and deleting sections, topics, tests and questions is editing too.
Publish Publish and unpublish it, and its sections and topics.
Delete, archive & clone Delete, archive or clone it. Cloning also needs them to be allowed to create that kind of thing (see below).
Pricing & website Set the price, free lessons, Show on your website, the cover image, the instructor shown on the website and a batch's curriculum outline.
View student results See students' progress, course health, and quiz and test results, including each student's answers.
Manage enrollments Add students to it, remove them and change their end dates.

A new assignment starts with Edit content on and everything else off. With every switch off, the instructor can open it and preview it as a student, but change nothing.

Note: Course payments, payouts and refunds stay with admins, whatever the switches say.

Creating

You can also let an instructor create their own courses, online tests or batches. What they create belongs to your academy, and is assigned to them with Edit content only. You decide whether they may publish it.

What instructors never see

Instructors don't see other courses, the Students page, Settings, Usage & Billing, Payments, Enquiries, Analytics, or the activity log. If they open one of these pages by its address, Paatya tells them it isn't theirs to open.

To add students, an instructor with Manage enrollments picks from your academy's student list. They can't create, edit or deactivate students.

Instructors and Faculty

Faculty profiles are what visitors see on your website and on certificates. An instructor is an account that signs in. They are separate: you can link an instructor to a Faculty profile so it's clear who is who, but students and visitors never see instructor accounts.
