When your balance runs out
What pauses, and what keeps working.
If your balance runs out, Paatya slows your academy down in stages rather than switching it off. Your students can keep learning for a short while, and nothing is ever deleted. Everything comes back the moment you add balance.
You'll be warned first
Before the balance runs out, billing emails warn you as it gets low. You choose when, and who gets them, under Usage & Billing → Notifications. See Limits and alerts.
What happens, step by step

The grace period is for academies that have recharged at least once. If your academy has only had the free welcome credit, or referral rewards, it goes straight to the last stage when that credit runs out: videos and new learners pause until your first recharge.
"Students starting for the month" means the moment a student first becomes an active learner in a calendar month, by watching a course video, taking a quiz or an online test, or downloading a file. That is the moment they are charged. Students can still sign in and look around.
What always keeps working
Whatever your balance:
- You and your admins can sign in.
- Settings, branding and your landing page can be changed.
- You can see all your courses, students, enrollments and analytics.
- You can recharge.
What students see
While your academy is paused, a student who tries to watch a video, or a student not yet active this month who tries to start a quiz or test or download a file, sees "This academy is temporarily unavailable. Please contact your academy." Their progress is safe and picks up where it stopped once you recharge.
Get going again
- Click Recharge on the banner, or go to Usage & Billing → Recharge.
- Choose an amount and complete the payment. See Add balance.
As soon as the payment succeeds, the banner disappears and everything works again. There is nothing else to switch back on.
Tip: When you try to add a course, a student or an enrollment without enough balance, Paatya shows Please add balance to continue. Click Recharge now to go straight to the Recharge tab.
Paused because of a spending limit?
If you've set a limit with Alert and pause, videos and new learners can also be paused while you still have balance. The fix is different: raise or switch off the limit. See Limits and alerts.
