Create a batch
Dates, classes, recordings, attached courses, and telling students about a new class.
Create the batch
- In the left menu, click Batches, then Create Batch.
- Fill in the Batch title, such as "Java Full Stack, Oct 2026", and optionally a subtitle and a description (class timings, who it is for).
- Under Dates & access, choose the Start date and End date, and how many days of Access after the end date students get. Enter 0 to close it on the end date. The end date can't be before the start date.
- Optional: turn on Students must finish earlier sections first. When it's off, students can open any section.
- Click Save & Continue to add sections and classes, or Save as Draft.
Add sections and classes
On the Curriculum tab, add sections and name them however suits the batch: Java, Spring Boot, Week 1, Week 2. Inside each section, add a class with + Topic and name it, for example "26-Oct-2026 – Introduction to Spring Boot".
After each class, open it and upload its recording, add notes or a quiz, and click Publish topic. See Add a video, Add a quiz and Documents and links.
Tell students about a new class
When you publish a class in a published batch, Paatya asks whether to Notify batch students. It's ticked by default. Students who can open the batch get an email and a notification on their phone, as each of them has chosen. A class is announced once only: publishing it again tells nobody twice.
Attach courses and online tests
Under Attached courses & tests on the batch's Details tab, choose a course or online test and click Attach. Everybody in the batch gets it for the batch's dates. Use the arrows to put them in order, or × to detach one.
When you detach a course, students who had it only through this batch can't open it from today. Their progress is kept and comes back if you attach it again. Students on that course in their own right, or through another batch, keep it.
Change the dates
Edit Dates & access at any time. If students are already in the batch, Paatya tells you how many before saving. Their access, and the attached courses, move to the new dates at once.
Publish, clone, archive or delete
These work as they do for a course. See Publish, clone, archive or delete.
- Clone makes the next run of a batch. It copies the sections, classes, files, quizzes, outline and attached courses, but not the students or the dates. Set the new dates before you publish it.
- Archive stops new students being added. Students already in it keep their access until it closes.
