How batches work
A group learning between two dates, with classes added as they happen.
A batch is a group of students who learn together between two dates, such as "Java Full Stack, Oct 2026". You add each class to the batch as it happens: its recording, its notes and, if you like, a quiz. Students open the batch from My Courses and catch up on any class they missed.
Note: Batches are switched on for your academy by Paatya. If you don't see Batches in the left menu, contact Paatya support.
How a batch is different from a course
| Course | Batch | |
|---|---|---|
| What's inside | Sections and topics | Sections and classes, such as Week 1 with Day 1, Day 2 |
| Dates | None, or an end date per student | A start date, an end date, and some days of access after it |
| How students get in | You enroll them, they buy it, or they start it free | You add them. Batches are not sold online |
| Courses inside it | No | You can attach courses and online tests that come with the batch |
| On your website | A course page with a price | A batch page with its dates, an outline you write, and an enquiry button |
Everything inside a class works as it does in a course: videos, quizzes, documents and links, progress and certificates.
When students can open a batch
A batch opens on its start date and stays open until its end date plus the Access after the end date days you choose. For example, a batch running 2 November to 20 December with 30 days of access can be opened until 19 January.
- Before the start date: students see the batch in My Courses, marked Upcoming with "Starts on 2 November". Its classes don't open yet.
- Between the dates: marked Ongoing. Students open every published class, including classes from before they joined.
- After the end date: marked Completed while the extra days last, then Access closed. Nothing is deleted: change the dates and the batch opens again.
Courses and online tests attached to the batch follow the same dates.
Statuses
A batch is Draft, Published or Archived, like a course. You can publish a batch before you add its first class, for example to show it on your website. A batch also shows a date badge: Upcoming, Ongoing, Completed or Access closed.
